Computer Crash:

If you get a blue screen then please see: The Blue Screen of Death.
What do I do when my computer freezes or will shut off all on its own? Help!
Have you ever been sitting at your computer and it just freezes and will not do anything? Sometimes after waiting a few minutes things will go back to normal. If this is the case you are most likely running short on memory the computer part for this is called "ram memory" Before replacing the ram in your pc you need to know if your computer has DDR or SDRAM. Most newer computers use DDR but you can get the fastest answer by viewing your manual.
If your computer freezes and the only solution you have found is restarting the computer than I recommend you first checking for spyware or viruses on your computer.
The next most logical reason is if you have to many programs running at once on your computer or to many programs loading into your computer at startup. You can determine this very quickly by checking the Microsoft Configuration settings.

1. Press the start button and then run.

2. Type in "msconfig" into the text box and press "ok".

3. Go to the tab titled "startup" and press the "Disable All" function. If you have a firewall (in this case I am running "zone alarm") make sure it stays selected to maintain your internet security while fixing the issue of computer crashes.
In addition these programs are all the programs on your PC that load every time you start your computer. Too many programs running at once can make your computers response time slow or even freeze.

4. You will need to restart your computer to make the changes. Once your computer starts back up a small box will appear stating that you have made changes - select "always hide this message" otherwise you will see this annoying box every time you start your computer.

The options in here are great but will not always solve every computer crash. If the problem continues it may be in your best interest to contact a professional PC repair company.
