Is my pc secure?

Hackers, spyware, Trojans, phishers, spam, worms, and viruses - with all of these horrible things on the internet how can you still control your privacy and security for you computer?
First step is to make sure you have a firewall on your computer. In XP you do have a Windows Free Firewall at your disposal. I recommend purchasing a professional grade firewall for your computer like Norton or Zone Alarm. Zone Alarm offers a free firewall that still outdoes the default Windows Firewall.
Just for your knowledge it is always recommended to only have one firewall running at a time. If you choose to operate more than one firewall they will fight against each other and create large gaps in you security.
If you choose to use the Windows Firewall here are the steps to initiating the firewall.

1. First make certain that you have all of your windows updates current, you will need the SP2 from Windows to complete this task.

2. Go to your control panel and select security.

3. From here you can choose to turn on or off your Windows Firewall and if you choose to turn it off make sure you turn off the alert... On the left side of this window you will see "change the way windows alerts me"
