The anti-virus software will make sure that if

quarantine the problem and fix it so the issue
does not spread to the rest of your computer or
network.
The firewall is best described as a doorman. It
will only allow things in and out of your
computer that you allow. This gives you full
control over your incoming and outgoing files.
