If you are running a game or some software but it is running slow on your computer you may want to check out Gaming PC Help or Why is my pc Slow.

If you are having issues with software that you have installed on your computer here are a few solutions and a last resort that may help.

Problem: Software won't install or won't work after install
The best thing to do in this situation is to make absolutely sure the software you're trying to install or run is compatible with your current computer software and hardware setup. If the sofware requires video or audio you may need to move to the next problem, but if it doesn't and the instructions say that it should be compatible with your computer many times the best thing to do is look for your particular problem via a search engine. More often then not you will find a forum or help page dealing with your problem that will either help or let you know it's hopeless.

Problem: Software requiring sound or video doesn't work
With software thats plays music or uses video it is always best to make sure you have compatible hardware such as a sound and a video card. Once you know that it should work, then visit the manufacturer pages for your sound and video cards and make sure you have the most up to date drivers. Visit Driver help for more information.

If the software uses a media player like Windows Media or Real Player, make sure that software is updated to the latest version also.

If the software makes use of DirectX update that. If none of the above makes a difference it may be best to hit the search engines looking for more information.

Still have a problem
Sometimes the only viable alternative is to either totally forget about the software or find a good solid alternative that you can get working right. Alternately, you could take your computer to a computer tech but that still gives you no guarantees and it costs money.
